When I published my photo book “FUSHIGI-NO-KUNI(the word means WONDERLAND)”,
Hougu Kawakami took one look and said “The ‘wonder’ is AMITA”.
“MITA” means measure, plan and consider,
“A” is a negative prefix like “un-”. In other words, it’s a world beyond imagination. Unlimited, unmeasured, unplanned, unconsidered.
For this exhibition I left everything to Mr. Kawakami without any limitation.
I feel great about it.

Born in Fukui Prefecture in 1935. He lives in Tokyo. In 1959, he graduated from Kuwasawa Design Institute. In the same year, he received the Photographic Association Newcomer Encouragement Award. He has held many photo exhibitions and is the author of many photo books. Director of photography. Film director. Script director.
